Located in the Georgian Bay Area of Ontario,

Welcome to the site of HowlingPines Registered Alaskan Malamutes, we have valued and shared our home with Malamutes since 1994 – having had many great experiences to be thankful for. We have been fortunate with regards to meeting and inviting many great families, to be part of our own and we cherish the relationships we’ve gained.  Throughout the years we have made invaluable connections and friendships, thanks to our Mal's. We’ve raised our children and our malamutes simultaneously, which has allowed us the opportunity to have each and every one of our pup's very well handled, nurtured and properly socialized from the beginning.  Our Mal's are engaged in almost everything we do….daily chores, coming to work for the day, enjoying various outdoor activities on our trails, going to town to walk the streets and socialize, marching in the local Santa Clause parade, entertaining guests, or just hanging around the house to chill. Regardless…not much is done in a day without them.

We have been members of  The Canadian Kennel Club  (CKC)  since 1999 and have been a CKC Registered Kennel of Purebred Alaskan Malamutes since 2008. We are also members of The Barrie Kennel & Obedience Club, The Alaskan Malamute Club of Canada and The Alaskan Malamute Club of America.

I (Nicole) am a Veterinary Technician/Nurse and Certified Animal Care Worker(Georgian College) with over 15 years of experience, and a passion for the well being of all animals. I work at a veterinary clinic, that offers Integrative Veterinary care and Canine Reproductive Services.  I also have a special interest (and certifications) in Canine/Feline Behavior and training.  I have been fortunate enough to work in wildlife rescue/rehabilitation(certified also through Georgian College), developing a deep level of respect for wild and free spirited animals, capable of living independently, harmoniously with nature and have what it takes to survive.  Perhaps this interest in wildlife and especially these characteristics was what captivated and intrigued me about the Alaskan Malamute in the first place.

We enjoy working with our malamutes in rally obedience, conformation, agility, back packing, dog sledding handling our dog's in film and everyday life in general!

Although challenging and heart breaking at times, life with Alaskan Malamutes, chickens, a couple of cats, a green cheek conure, a bearded dragon, teenagers and a Cane Corso extraordinaire “Capone”…..is a very fulfilling one. 30 years living with Malamutes and it still feels like yesterday we brought home our very first.

We are raising and nurturing our entire family as naturally and holistically as possible.

“All health certificates will be made available to you  AND I stand behind my puppies for the life of the pet!”
-Nicole, Howling Pines

We consider our mal family to be beautiful, loving, agile, hard working, spirited, intelligent and very entertaining !

We think of our puppy owners as our extended family.  We hope to stay in contact with you for many years to come.

These dogs are our family companions first and foremost.  We adore and respect them for everything they are. Our commitment to the breed as a whole, includes striving to preserve this breed by making responsible breeding decisions, keeping the history and origins of the Alaskan Malamute in mind to produce healthy, well socialized,  working and noble representations of this magnificent breed and educating the public to ensure placement of these dogs makes sense for the family and the dog!”

As a Veterinary Technician, I have a strong knowledge of the health and well being of my animal companions. I am able to discuss with you vaccination protocols, nutritional needs, raw vs kibble, behavioral issues and overall health throughout the various stages of your dog’s life.  At Howling Pines we do many health tests before breeding our dogs at the appropriate ages.  Please read more about our breeding philosophy by Clicking Here.
