Puppies

Carefully Planned and Responsible Breeding's

We are committed to ensuring our puppies are well handled, socialized and introduced to manners.  There is a lot of love, pride and work involved with raising each and every one of our litters.

At Howling Pines our dogs are first and foremost family companions!  They are a pleasure to have in our home and we hope they are a pleasing addition to their new homes as well.

All of our dogs are thoroughly health tested and clearances done prior to being bred.  Most of our clearances are done at 24 months of age.  In addition to health testing, the dog must have a sound, friendly temperament to be included in our breeding program.

We pay close attention to the developmental stages that all puppies progress through while they are with us.  There are three major developmental stages that occur within the first two months of a puppy's life.  We make sure that each stage is successfully accomplished.  These include :  Socializing puppies with a variety of people (children, strangers, etc.),  teaching bite inhibition  and  establishing household manners. Our puppies should feel completely at ease being handled by strangers(meaning you), be fully desensitized to sounds, have had some crate training and potty training well underway by the time we let them go to their new homes,

We do not take “reservations” on a litter as we wait to make sure there is a puppy that matches your family’s needs.  Families who understand the malamute breed and can offer a good, loving home are encouraged to visit and may, if desired, be placed on our waiting list.

We spend time talking with you about what you want to accomplish with your newest family member.

We also take this time to show you the sire and dam's health certifications, registration certificates, pedigrees and our practices and protocols for raising our puppies.

At eight weeks old temperament testing is done.  At that time we will find out if one of the puppies is well suited to your family.  We are always delighted when we can let you know that we have a puppy for your family.

Puppies are vaccinated, examined by a licensed veterinarian, insured on a 6 week starter policy and micro-chipped before going to their new homes.

At Howling Pines we usually wait for the dogs to mature to at least ten weeks old before placing them into their new homes.   You will find that your puppy has been well socialized with other dogs, cats, adults, children of all ages and various environments.  HowlingPines’ puppies already have a very good sense of manners by this time. We do not vaccinate our puppies before 8 weeks of age.

WHY SO CAUTIOUS? Malamutes can live up to and beyond 12 years of age.  It is much better to have a breeder who works tirelessly in the beginning to find you the right match, then to hand over the first available puppy.  We want you AND the dog to be very happy.

We believe that a litter must be well planned.  Therefore we take our time to determine when, where and who makes the best next match. Patience will pay off if you trust us to make the right match for you.
